on paper yes but if you sell your home the next one will also cost more, I see it more as investing in the kids future

...yeah you're right! It's a long term thing you can look back on as long as you live. (Lucky Kids who have such fathers)

I think it depends on the city you are in and the district within that city.  I live in Dongguan in a newer part of Nancheng district.  There are no polluting factories nearby and no noisy highways.  They just built a new middle school and the Nancheng government is moving their offices to a new building nearby.  When we bought the apartment we were told by the developer that floors 8 and 9 were being reserved for the officials if they want to move there.  The prices in my area have gone up slightly, but in other older areas of Dongguan they have dropped a lot.
