That is simple: It is called "window-dressing" and the corrupt and venal CPC is well experienced i ...

I see you and your ghost, MrMao, have ignored the fact that in the west the disparity is far worse.
The only support you come up with is "that is not what I read".
We all know you only read right-wing rags that distort the truth or use outright lies.
The gini index for China, even according to western sources is about 47 compared to South Africa of 63.
You try to defend 85 capitalists having as must wealth as the lower 3,500,000,000 people on earth
by pointing out that 10% of Chinese have "nearly" 60% of the income. In reality it's closer to 50%.

China is suffering through the capitalist phase of commuism but is determined to progress on into the socialist phase
as it is doing today. This is always where I lose the attention of right wing western propagandists such as you.
You only know being mired in the capitalist stage, being well indoctrinated as you are by your capitalist masters.
The west is in decline. Heavily in debt and being run into the ground by a very few obscenely rich capitalist masters.
China and other socialist nations are progressing into the future. They are more than happy to leave you in the dust.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

Interesting post indeed and one with thoughtful points in it. I would like to add to it this:

1) 150 million people live in areas of difficult access but IMO it is and has to be the duty of the government to care for their basic needs at least; access to water, land that can produce a benefit and schooling for their children.
2) I agree completely. Give a man a fish he will eat one day; teach him how to fish and he will source of food his family his whole life. Thus the great problem in some developed nation where for decades the governments have been giving "a fish" to the people and now that they don't have enough resources leave the people hungry and desperate.
3) This is somthing I have been arguing for some time; SOE means the company is state owned. If it's state owned it belongs to the country and the country belongs to their people. Now I knokw many here will come forard arguing that a few are using the assets of these SOEs for their personal benefit; that's corruption. And corruption is what the present Governement is fighting. We just need to hope that all the culprits and wrondoers get caught and those assets return to their rightful owners; The People!
4) Wealth normally refers to Net Worth and this means the amount the assets exceed the liabilities. For example, if you current's house value is, let's say, 1,000,000 RMB and the outstanding balance of your mortgage is 500,000 RMB, your Net Worth Wealth (I am not considering other factors like, cars, investment portofolios, insurance policies, etc.) is 500,000 RMB.

Your third point is often overlooked.
""Three, though not in people pocket, people are the owners of capital of SOE, which is one of the key reasons that
government has been able to pull hundreds of millions of people out of poverty. This huge amount of wealth has
never been considered when talking about wealth of  public people.""

And in your subsequent post you also correctly noted that the fondest wish of these western propagandists is to
somehow trick the Chinese people into giving up their entitlements they worked so hard for.
These China antagonists have wet dreams about getting their greedy paws on China's SOE.
They are like flies on the screen trying to find a way in. The CPC is too smart for them though.

Longzhou said that your source is the OXFAM report. Since you have not bothered to dispute it then it stands. In that same report China is placed as the most unequal country in the world. If your claim is to be accepted than so is this according to OXFAM. Period.

btw about 10% of those 85 billionaire "capitalists" are Chinese. Just further evidence of the trend implicated in the OP. China is fast on track to defend its title of world leader in inequality in subsequent OXFAM reports.

"Capitalist phase of communism"??? What is your source for this nonsense?

Er.....10% out of 85 makes it....8.5, let's say 9, OK? This means there are still another 76 (90%) who are not Chinese.

For this and other interesting facts on how statistics are used please refer to: "Freakonomics" by S.Dubner and S.Levitt

As for your previous post mentioning the inequality index, we should use the GINI Index, being 0 the most equal and 1 the most unequal , and the data produced by the World Bank. In this sense China fares not so good with a GINI index of 47 (range 45-50). But compared to other countries from the developed world then this shows that it's not so bad. Some examples;
UK - 34
USA - 45
EU (as a global) - 30.4

But of course we should compare apples to apples, right? So how do the union of the BRICS fare? Let's take a look.

GINI Index according to the World Bank for the group of the BRICS countries:

Brazil - 54.7
Russia - 40.1
India - 33.4
China - 47
South Africa - 63.1

So now we do have a more clear picture of the inequality and I would say that China is not an equal country indeed, but compared to some of the other developing nations, it certainly stands at a middle point!

So.....once again, whenever you want to really make good use of statistics, refer to the book I mentioned in my previous post to you.
