A new year and a new start. Everyone prepares for this time of the year, anticipating a revitalizing new episode of their lives.

You want a fresh start? Enjoy and share the fun moments with your family with these ideas that will surely make your New Year celebration an unforgettable one.

Light up the sky with a wonderful display of pyrotechnics. Seeing colorful lights dance in the night sky will lighten your mood and help you appreciate the coming year with a smile.

Time capsule

Writing your resolutions for the coming year seems old and boring but it can be beneficial as well. Jot down those resolves for self-improvement and other goals for the coming year.

Do it as a family, requiring each member to write down his or her own resolution, expectations and targets for the upcoming year. Stash it somewhere safe and hidden for 365 days. It would be best if you can dig a hole in your backyard.

When the next New Year’s Eve comes, bring it out and read aloud each note. See if each of you had reached their goals for that year. This keeps you in track of how much you’ve improved or otherwise for the past year.

You can make it better by adding a prize for the people who were able to do most of their resolutions.

Invite other relatives or close friends to sleepover in your house. Have them bring their own share of food, drinks or whatever they can give to make the night more fun and exciting. Have a small party – drink, dance, play games – celebrate the experiences and other stuff you need to be thankful for the whole year.

If you have a great entertainment system, might as well power up the station and play some games with people in the house. Have a friendly competition and enjoy thrill of being young again.

Invite people you want to celebrate the night with. The more the merrier!

You can camp with the kids in your own backyard and start a small bonfire. Sit around the fire while sharing stories and secrets. Do some outdoor activity and some games. Grill food and cook marshmallows on a stick.

Exchange gifts

Santa might have given you something during Christmas, but not for New Year’s Eve.

You don’t have to spend so much for the gifts. A simple but memorable one will do. Just put it in a handmade giftwrap to make it more adorable.

Kids especially will love this kind of treat. Hey, who doesn’t want to receive a present every day?

Eat and drink in

Cook sumptuous meals and prepare unusual punches and serve it for dinner.

Add a chocolate fondue, have pizza or taco buffet or even cook some popcorn. Welcome the New Year with a heart and stomach filled with joy.

“All new” list

Prepare for a new day and list down things you haven’t done. Write down food and activities that are new and interesting to you.

The next day, the very first day of the New Year, go out and try all those that are in your list. Have a first of everything you wouldn’t usually do.

Celebrate the New Year and welcome it with a bang!
