Good morning.

I often hear Chinese English speakers ask questions that are confusing to me as a native English speaker. They will say, “Tomorrow, do you go to the office?” Today, I’m going to teach you the right way to ask this kind of question. When you use it the right way, you’ll sound more like a native English speaker.

To express something in the future, you need to add the word ‘will’. For example, you would ask someone, “Tomorrow, will you go to the office?” You can answer by saying, “Yes, I will go” or, simply, “Yes, I’ll go.” Of course, “I’ll” is a contraction of “I will.” It might be easier to say, however, you must say the ‘ll’ in order to say it the right way.

Practice

Next week, we will have an exam.

This afternoon, I will need to grade (mark) the students’ homework.

I will have the afternoon off today.

I’ll have the afternoon off today.

Today, I’ll have the afternoon off.

Also, notice that it doesn’t matter when you say the time. You can say it at the beginning or at the end.

Learn to say this the right way and you WILL sound more natural.

That’s all for today.

Goodbye for now.

I hope you have a wonderful day!
