Does it ever happen to you that  you lack courage to go into certain situations, scenarios, or occasions? For example public speaking, a job interview, meeting somebody for the first time, may be first date? Or, you happened to see someone you were really attracted to, but during the meeting your heart and pulse rate went berserk? your voice seemed coming from far away and your palms sweat?
Some fears are good fears because they alert us and prepare us to take necessary action and once those actions are taken, they leave.Fear is a natural response to physical danger, but it can also be self-created, such as the fear of failure, being out of control, being different or being lonely. There is a fear of the future and of death. You may fear love because you fear being rejected; fear being generous because you fear you will not have enough; fear sharing your thoughts or feelings in case you appear wrong; and fear trusting because you are dominated by self-doubt and insecurity.
Remember times you have met fear and moved through it, so many times when fear arose but you kept going? Those are moments of fearlessness. Fear may close the heart, but courage comes out of heartfulness, out of releasing resistance. Fear will stop you from facing your shadow and participating fully in life, but fearlessness will give you the courage to dive into the unknown.
As a personal example, I've lived in the fear of failure and rejection. And as I grew up, I realized that It's only me who had fed them, given them power over me and they did not exist in real but in my mind. In fact when I was at school and later at college, I saw my classmates participating in activities like drama, speech contests, sports etc., I just stayed back as a spectator, thinking ' I'm not good enough.' ' I am not as talented as them.' I always sat at the back of the class fearing that the teachers would ask me something and I had known this fear.
I was excellent at English though, actually the best in my class throughout my academic years, but I could never gather that courage to speak on the stage, facing a crowd. But I have always had this desire to show up and shine. I killed the fear of speaking by Doing it. I did it without a written paper in front of me, just improvising one day. My pent up emotions and desire of speaking made me do it. I realized that the thing I dreaded the most I was best at. Speaking. I became a trainer later, a language coach. I started doing training sessions with the teachers and company managers. I still do it and I am confident now.
I write this particularly for the students who are reading now. Have no fears. ' Just Do It!' as Nike slogan says. Go into your fear and you will see it did not exist in real but in your mind and thoughts.
Fear is nothing but False Evidence Appearing Real.(F.E.A.R)
