British millionaire accused of keeping aspiring models in a Costa del Sol harem
The women claim they were kept against their will in a house in the hills above the Spanish resort city of Marbella
A British Millionaire has been arrested in Spain after nine women accused him of holding them against their will in a mansion near Marbella
Fifty six year-old Shoja Shojai, who was born in Iran but has held a British passport since January 2008 met the women, most of whom are in their 20s and who came from across Europe and Asia, while they were studying at the London Fashion School, according to the.
The women said that Shojai claimed to be an oil tycoon, with highly influential friends including Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin and that he could assist them with their careers. He then enticed them to Spain with promises of helping them break into the fashion industry.
But, according to the newspapers, the women say their hopes turned into a nightmare after their arrival in the Costa del Sol when they were subjected to systematic emotional abuse while living in a lavish 10-bedroom, Arabian-themed, mansion called Casa Saf. Shojai lived in the adjoining property called Casa Nabil, and the women took it in turns to sleep with him, becoming his mistresses.
Of the ten woman living with Shojai, nine have now come forward and claimed that he subjected them to a campaign of emotional abuse and threats of physical violence to keep them from leaving.
One of the ten, a 33-year old Danish national, was in fact Shojai’s wife, although it remains unclear if she is amongst the women who have made the allegations against him.
