Australia did the same thing for Anzac Day, move it to a Monday and make that the public holiday,easier for business and give people a long weekend.
Stopped that now.For good reason.The day and date has become sacred in Australia, no matter what day of the week it falls , that is Anzac Day.
Armistice was declared on the 11 November .That should be the commemorative day.

Both the 11th and the Sunday are there in peoples minds and things are done on both days, however making all the bank holidays mid week make thing difficult for businesses especially those that work on an international basis
