Managing people is both a talent and an acquired skill. It is a talent because it is not common to everyone. On the other hand, it is a an acquired skill since you can cultivate and master it.
This article will guide you how to improve your management skills.

Encourage employees to improve
Life is a matter of choice. It is a personal choice. But as a manager, it is your responsibility to encourage your subordinates to improve themselves.
There is actually no rule about that but think how your subordinates could be more effective and be better persons to work with if they learn more, improve themselves and be more equipped to perform their duties.
Learning does not have to be confined in colleges and universities. Learning can be found in reading books, attending interpersonal relationship developments and other events that encourage growth. Recommend these to your employees and see how you can give them the opportunity to improve and perform better.

Learn
If you encourage other people to learn, why should you not do it to yourself? Learning is a continuous process. Take advantage of self-improvement workshops that your organization holds. These workshops are usually not mandatory but you can volunteer to attend. do not let your self miss learning opportunities like that.
Managing different people is not easy so you have to be smart and assert what it is that you want to achieve.
Remember that, every new day is a chance to be better so get up and keep those thinking juices flowing.

Give your colleague something to look forward to
Wouldn’t it be nice if you are working because of something? While it is expected that all employees should give their best in their job, it is also good that you.

Be approachable
Managers are not only work managers. There will always come a time that your people will seek your advice about work, career and even about their families!
Sometimes it is frustrating especially when they ask you what to do about their husband when you are not even in a relationship. Funny but it will give you the nerves, right?
The point is, if your employees approach you with matters like these, it means that they look up to you as someone who has the wisdom to share. You do not have to tell them what to do. Sometimes, listening is enough.

Ask a superior to gauge your management skills
If you want to assess your management skills, ask another person to do it for you. That person should not be directly under your management or you should not be under his.
Self-reflection is not credible enough as you have natural inclination to defend and believe in yourself. Asking others of how they see you can have the tendency to hurt your ego but that shouldn’t be the case. Accept critics as your way of improving your personality.
