August 6,2013, a welcome ceremony was held at the Philippines naval base in Subic Bay to celebrate that the retired patrol vessel coming to service there. President Aquino III attends.

The vessel once was named “Hamilton” would be the second large warship in Philippines; it had got a new name as “Alcaraz” and would be sent to the disputed maritime areas to conduct surveillance.

The tonnage of Alcaraz is 3250 tons. The U.S. once presented a same level vessel named“Del Pilar”to the Philippines in 2011.

President Aquino III said, “The vessel will improve the capability of our naval force, and help us do better in patrol and answer to the threat on sea, also it can strengthen our condition in rescuing, in protecting our maritime recourse.”

The Philippines had approved that America Naval Force can move their naval base closer to the dispute areas in China Sea. And the Subic Bay would be rebuilt as a new military center for the Philippines.
