3 days ago, I received an EMS (Express Mail Service). Inside the envelope is a Chinadaily newspaper of March 25, 2013. On its 9th page of views&letters there is a letter written by me. One of my blogs was luckily published on the printed version of Chinadaily. I am excited to have my writings recommended by Voice_cd and admitted by one of the honorable editors. The blog had been modified and beautified before getting published. I feel much obliged to what they’ve done for me, including the Chinadaily forum per se, the well-managed blog module, the award of a Chinadaily calendar for starbloggers, and especially, the efforts they made to put the some blogs on the homepage of Chinadaily website, all of which always gives me great encouragements and inspirations on English blog writings. Here is a piece of its printed newspaper with my writings on it!
Looking at the paper costing Chinadaily an extra RMB 20 yuan, I felt a little guilty all of a sudden. It was not necessary for them to send me the printed version because its electronic pdf version is available on the Chinadaily webpage. I can also buy one on the news stand if necessary. I should have declined when Voice_cd told me that a printed version would be sent to me. The sum of 20 yuan is nothing to speak of, surely. But it is utterly unnecessary and against my principle of frugality, which is also a principle advocated by our state. So, I would decline the printed next time, if there is, when I feel it is not necessary.
