From Alliance Patriotic Pole enthroned him in power in those years, it is not even a memory. He could not, he would not, or he did not care the creation of a national industry or any kind, even with important partners in areas of agribusiness and metallurgy, such as Brazil.

Nor recomposed the working class, he used then in his personal and electoral issues, without dissent of any kind, with no margin for discussion. No educated population.

It created the middle class, which itself was a pending issue in a country supposedly "rich", and by another hand he attacked the incipient and very small urban middle class, struggling in crisis "lost century" (80) and the "neo-liberal wave" (90) with expropriations and policies that incited the steady flight of capital.

Chávez gave a lot of speech and wanted to wrap it in a sheltering ideology, especially that of his strange ties with Cuba. On one hand always flaunting follow the "leaders" traditional American, but never in fact ... in fact he traded with Cuba, especially because they needed. The oil price differential was going to get, only way to hide more than 50 years of overall failure, but particularly a tremendous failure in the island's energy policy. All this happened in a special period of pseudo socialist revolution, capitalism and totalitarian dictatorial one-party Marxist Leninist governing with iron hand  the island since late 1959.

Thus, as noted, Chavez had in the Argentinian Alicia Castro, among other beauties, gave to the commander, Peronism classes. Same line, but with a greater theoretical strictness, offered him the late Ernesto Ceresole.

Chavez accounts was a good,Peronism, as rock and roll, always work together when votes and applause, although Chavez vision was very different from national thought traditional American leaders, much less facts, evidence today to singing.

Chavez leaves a transformed country into a kind of civil-military dictatorship, where there is no longer a party system, where the media have suffered a relentless pursuit to the point of being segregated mostly editors, owners, journalists and even the same writers, who pronounced against him but not conveniently knelt.

To this point leaves a dictatorship, the only thing that the heirs have agreed is to mobilize the armed and security forces. They fear that the annals obituary from clouding, because the bolivar (perhaps the only currency worse today than the ailing Argentine peso) may begin to fall much more than it already has deteriorated, and hunger, and can destabilize a country now seems united only by their military and civic Bolivarian forces.

Chavez also makes the worst of political patronage, that rule seems they began writing in several countries, including the President insists on scoring to society. The rule of "no work".

An army of "non-workers" civilian soldiers of committee conveniently be recruited for one of the two immediate followers Maduro or Diosdado Cabello, one of the political firmament disappear soon.

Although the new Bolivarian be committed contenders, the Yankees will not give much ball, total, and Chavez refused to meekly surrender the black gold that Venezuela keeps under his gut.

The Venezuela Chavez stripped the vast mass of the poor, they were 14 years ago and today about 20 million around 18 million achieved a political reference that promised social improvements from the state, unfortunately not from genuine jobs.

Also stripped the traditional political system was oligarquizado Caribbean country two parties (Conservatives and Liberals) who could not leave efficiently dependence, and entered in such a crisis that came to stab the system to not stand for election , which increased (consciously) the golem of Chavez, who always believed in living a kind of Julius Caesar in the tropical savanna.

So, today Venezuela lacks organized political force, Republican and institutionalized (except the figure of Henrique Capriles) which of extinction again had to arm themselves for the sole purpose of fighting the Stalinist dictatorship with pretensions who saw the indefinite reelection Chavez. But not only that, Chavez, new emerging phenomenon in 14 years swept federalism, independent judiciary and the media, but especially with the low credibility of outside observers, which does not appear as easy exchange.

Now is the time of the pomp, the liturgy, the deification and myth, to be suitably ornate and exploited to the maximum possible.

Denial, according the psychoanalysts, is one of the most primary mechanisms of defense. It consists in the attitude of denying or minimizing obvious facts of reality with which the individual can´t  cope or whose irresponsibility is unable to meet.

And I agree.

It could hardly be a dictatorship when elections were held every few years. That he was popular is why he stayed in power, I believe by giving to the poor and disenfranchised.
Whatever we might think of the man, or his message, he won elections and that is why he stayed in power for so long.

Exactly right. I didn't like who or what he was, or his message but what I like didn't matter as long as Venezuelans approved of, and re-elected him.
As for agreeing with each other, if you're right, you are right. It doesn't matter if I am ideologically opposed, or you are.

A typical response of a ¨chavista¨.

Some presidents are dictators and some others act as dictators, regardless the way they got the power

many military after the retirement get involved into politics. some with the good intention to make some changes and to serve their people, others just to get the power.

In the 90s Chavez was a militar who fought to get the power trying to bring down a elected president but he failed.

Years after he reached the presidence installing a totalitarian government. He change  the Constitution and changed the laws to let him run for president as much times as he wanted,

He polarized the country creating the chaos and increasing the poverty but at same time manipulating the low class people.

For me and for many others, Chavez was a dictator.
