Chinese coffin therapy in pictures

  • Patients are offered the experience of "death" by lying in a coffin as a form of therapy by a mental health clinic in Shenyang that opened three years ago. The treatment, which lasts four to five hours, costs 2,000 yuan (about £198). The sign on the wall reads "experience the true meaning of life by experiencing the mystery of death".

Apart from lying in the coffin, patients also have to listen to a therapist's guidance.

He isn't dead, but a wife reads her husband's 'epitaph'.

Patients also have to record their feelings on paper before and after the experience.
