Why Chinese in mainland can't achieve merits which their peers could abroad. We all know there several Nobel laureates who are with other nationalities.   when do you think  a Chinese with Chinese nationality, i mean, could get this honor? Forget about the one who was given due to political consideration.

After Obama had Nobel for "Peace"... that prize means for me nothing.

Scientists... well, it is another thing.
Chinese science are now bursting, after some time of isolation... so it will take some time I think.

you can say that again, but I do want to know why Chinese can't achieve the scientific honor for so long time? perhaps some would say we don't need the honor since it belongs to the western game.

Science in China is still on a rather weak level - professors in Chinese universities are paid rather low salaries (compared to their counterparts in most foreign countries), so they are rather contemplating how to live a decent life than how to achieve academic break-throughs.

As ColoradoDan's list shows, Chinese researchers who do get paid decently and can really devote themselves to science (so those living abroad) also do achieve according results.

The problem is just, that the Chinese universities couldn't afford nor justify paying top researchers internationally competitive salaries - or if they'd pay as much, they'd be struggling explaining it to the public.
