Liang Xiaoxiao, 3, was born in Huitong county of Huaihua city in Hunan Province. She is 54 cm tall and weighs 2.5 kg. She was diagnosed with Craniosynostosis which seriously affects her body growth, making her the shortest person in the world.
On July 9, Xiaoxiao caught a cold which led to a lung infection and was sent to Hunan Children’s hospital. In the picture, Xiaoxiao’s mom, Liu Xinglian and grandma was looking after her in the hospital on July 15, 2012.
The doctor was helping Xiaoxiao with her loosened syringe needle.
Xiaoxiao didn’t show any fear in front of the camera. She played cell phone or crawled in the bed. She loves music. As soon as music was on, she started to dance and make some noise.
Xiaoxiao took off a volunteer’s glasses and tried to put them on.
With her mom’s help, she chased after a pink plastic ball on the ground.
Liu’s been taking care of Xiaoxiao for three years with her deep love toward Xiaoxiao.
Liu would hold Xiaoxiao in her arms when Xiaoxiao got tired.
Liu was helping scratch Xiaoxiao’s hand to keep her from feeling itchy.
Xiaxiao's favorite toy is an electronic keyboard.
In the lobby of the hospital, Xiaoxiao’s appearance had drawn a lot of attention during only 10 minutes.
Some people even called Xiaoxiao a weirdo in front of her. Liu does hope people to show more respect to her, at least not to be too rude in front of her because she could understand Mandarin and her local dialect.
Curious parents compared their children's height with Xiaoxiao's.
Through a transparent ball, Xiaoxiao and her mom looked at each other. Liu would always be there with Xiaoxiao to face people around them.
Liu hopes that Xiaxiao's condition will be better--for her to be able to talk, walk and go to school in the future. But for now, she plans to take Xiaoxiao to her grandmother in Huaihua as she goes back to Fujian to work.
