Robot Prostitution... will wives consider this cheating?
Would this be a love triangle or just going off on a tangent?
What if hackers programmed a gay robot to rape men?
What if you stuck your ATM card in her slot and she won't return it?
The future holds more questions than answers I'm afraid...

Welcome to the Brave New World of Robot Prostitution
By Mark Whittington | Butterfinger Barmageddon News Network – Tue, Jun 26, 2012 6:17 PM EDT

According to a story in the SyFy Channel's DVICE page, a recent study suggests that by the year 2050, the world's
oldest profession will fall prey to automation. Robots will take over prostitution from live, working girls.

The idea of robotic sex companions indistinguishable from humans is not a new concept. A few years ago, David Levy, an
expert in artificial intelligence, wrote a ground breaking study of sex between humans and robots called Love and Sex
with Robots: The Evolution of Human-Robot Relationships, in which he examines the new frontier in erotic relationships.
Decades ago, the science fiction writer Lester Del Rey wrote a story entitled Helen O'Loy about a man who falls in love
and then marries a humanoid robot.

The idea of robots with all the equipment and the programming necessary for human companionship has been examined in
science fiction and debated in scholarly works for years. In the realm of the world's oldest profession, robot sex
workers may solve quite a few problems, including coercion, abuse, sex trafficking, the spread of sexually transmitted
diseases, and child prostitution.

On the other hand, a number of questions arise.

Will there be a social stigma about having sex with a machine? What if the science of artificial intelligence allows us
to create robots that seem to have human consciousness? Do they remain entities with as many rights as a toaster, to
use a term from the TV show "Battlestar Galactica?" Robot prostitutes, designed and programmed solely to give humans
gratification, would tend to fall into that category. They can be designed to have that one purpose alone.

But humanoid robots could become a new race of beings, physically and psychologically better than humans in many ways,
demanding full civil rights? Both Levy's book and DeRey's story explores the possibility of not only sex between robot
and human, but love in every sense of the word. That can only happen between beings with a consciousness and, for those
of a theological bent, a soul. The ethical implications are still being mulled over. Is it just a matter of passing the
Turing test, as suggested in an article in The Age? Or does something more have to take place?

These questions are being debated while the sciences of robotics and artificial intelligence proceeds apace.

If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

The Stepford Wives come to mind.

Yeah. That was 40 years later and still no robot wives.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

I guess that all depends on who you ask.

"...these are the entities which have been named in the past incubus or succubus according as they have sought a female or male partner. They would seem generally to be of human origin: rarely an entire "earth-bound soul," sometimes the consciousness and astral vehicle of a living person, but often a psychic fragment — one of the "splinters" previously mentioned — representing the repressed and rejected sexuality of a man or woman whether living or deceased. (In the latter case, there is the possible complication that this "shell" may be taken over and given, as it were, a new lease of "life" by an elemental of like inclinations).

These entities are comparatively uncommon — or at least are comparatively rarely known of — but they are of unmistakeable reality, existing at the very low astral or "etheric" level, just beyond the material world. To manifest themselves, they draw the necessary extra amount of astral substance freshly from their partner at the time, and so can be considered vampiric just as, or even more specifically than, the ordinary sex-elementals. (They are also much more jealous and possessive).
They appear as human beings, with bodies firm but abnormally supple, boneless and very smooth. We may call to mind that the true manifestations of ectoplasmic bodies such as occur at physical-mediumship seances, have sometimes been fraudulently mimicked by the use of latex gloves filled with water and sealed; this gives an idea of the texture of the genuine article. These entities are similar, save that they lack the clammy chill.

This description is based upon cases some of which were known to us many years before the beginnings of the current fashion for life-size inflatable dolls; a very curious example of the way we frequently see earthly inventions following upon astral patterns.

The entities themselves, however, behave very much as living beings. One young man while a student, had for some years received the attentions of a "lady" of that kind without finding anything undesirable in the associ¬ation. Then he got married, assuming apparently that his entity-friend would easily take the hint; but he learned differently. The first thing he knew of the true state of affairs was a cry from his bride, "Move your arm — it's across  my throat!" followed by a horrified  "There's someone else in the bed!" The jealous entity had in fact materialized between the two embracing humans, and the husband had no choice but to ask his wife to go into another room while he pacified and dismissed the in¬truder. After several such occurrences he had to seek occult help, or his marriage would have ended. The entity proved to be an elemental which had taken over the "astral shell" of a nymphomaniac who had died a violent death, so that it was still imbued with her unruly instincts.

A man and a woman, sexual partners, will normally absorb a considerable amount of each other's energies, especially in their early days together; because she is naturally lacking in male energy, he in female energy...."

We call this Ching chi.  This is from the book Psychic Self-Defense chapter called The Psyche's Weak Points.  Also check out a documentary called: "Men and dolls".
