Tremendous fountains of water and sand is discharged from the Xiaolangdi Reservoir on the Yellow River in the Central China’s Henan province, creating a speculator scene, in the file photo taken on June 15, 2006. The move is to flush silt from the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River by opening the reservoir’s sluice gates. The reservoir conducted its 13th discharge on June 19, 2012. A total of 762 million tons of sand have been flushed into the sea over the past 10 years. [Photo/Xinhua]

The first picture reminds me of a scene of the movie "The 2012".  The sea level went up to a height that submerged a mountain and poured horribly and heavily downside.
