He sounds decidedly North American.

As a foreigner myself I'd tell him to get his filthy feet of the back of the seat and to behave himself like a civilised individual.  If that didn't work I'd yank his foot off the seat and probably twist his ankle in the process, followed by giving him a piece of mind (that wouldn't be very pretty as I detest sc*m  like him).

I have to say I don't understand several things watching this video.

1. There is obviously more than enough room for his legs, why does he feel the need to put them on the back of the seat like that ?

2. Apparently, nobody is sitting in front of this guy so him putting his feet this way, albeit pretty uncivilized, doesn't bother anyone, I wonder why the woman's reaction is so strong ?

If I were to witness something like that, I probably wouldn't say anything, provided nobody was sitting in front of him. However, should all this blow out of proportion (as it almost did) I would stand by the woman's side.

I guess instead of throwing bottles at him a better idea would have been to explain him that trains are paid by public taxes and that if everybody behaves this way the train will need to be renovated faster and therefore it will cost more money to the taxpayers.

And, once again, don't go thinking all foreigners behave like that in a train :)

You apparently don't understand Chinese. The woman said she was sitting in the seat in front of him and she had to stay away because she could not bear somebody's feet waving behind her head.

I have to say this guy's behavior was disgusting. He is a member of Beijing Symphony Orchestra. He will probably be fired because of this.

I don't know how such behavior is considered in western countries, but in the East, it is grossly vulgar.

It's unacceptable behaviour anywhere in the West. In most countries his actions will end up with the offender being issued an on the spot fine or facing a court if caught in the act. If they don't pay the fine they can be arrested and jailed.
