World IPR Day (4.26). How has China fared? [Copy link] 中文

Today is World Intellectual Property Day (April 26).

Undoubtedly, the Chinese media once again highlighted China's achievement in the protection of IPR, which, I should say, are largely justified. At least from personal experiences, I'd say there are far fewer cases of pirated this and that, making some books and dvds much more expensive -- well, piracy is still a huge problem here, but the Chinese are doing hard to tackle it.

But on another note, I often wonder is the protection of IPR more condusive to innovation or should we borrow those "open source" spirits from the software industry and actually spread the knowhow?
