This incredible portrait of a Chinese infantryman, based on an iconic war photo which famously featured on the cover of Life magazine,, has been created using 5,500 toy soldiers.

Artist Joe Black recreated the 1938 image by Hungarian photographer Robert Capa of a 15-year-old Chinese soldier in the Sino Japanese war for his piece Made in China.

Joe, who specialises in making mosaics using tiny objects, spray painted the soldiers in individual colours to created the life-like image.

He used toy soldiers in a variety of different poses from advancing on the enemy, to crouching and shooting. All are made in China and are glued to the artwork, allowing it to be displayed vertically.
