Barbarianmo,

With the rise of Middle Kingdom China and others, their 'once absolute monopoly' is waning; say, compared to 50 yrs ago. In 50 yrs from now, it will be history.

The good, the bad & the ugly! When crony capitalists rule, or ruin the world, things turn upside down. The good become the bad, the bad & ugly turn good. What a world we live in!

The truth is that -

Its about 'Lesser of two evils'!

Myanmar probably has suffered the worst and has faced the longest tragic end & isolation among 40-something colonies under British.
It was said that British snapped her just before France was planning to do the same, from next door Laos, a French colony.
Under the French the lesser evil, homogeneous tiny Burma, at least, would have been spared from onslaught with
millions of immigration of muslims & others from giant British India subcontinent. While Laos has no (forced)foreignimmigration,
its also more developed and peaceful.

You got that right, Mo!

'Colonialism and Colonization in Mother Asia, and if they didn't do it, who would?'

Japan went all the way to face bullies all out fronts in South-East Asia, both mainland Indochina and islands, and to get

rid of Western colonial disease that had been lingering on in Asia for so long.

Getting rid of permanent colonization of Australia/NZ in Asia Pacific region was probably next in the plan, but unfortunately

they were facing against evil enemies ten times stronger, in terms of resources and manpower.
