Recently, a set of photos picturing the North Korean women who have crossed the border to China illegally and the children that these illegal immigrants gave birth to for their Chinese husbands have gone viral on the web.
North Korean women went across the border to China illegally, mostly because they were in starvation and wanted to have a comfortable life. Chinese netizens thus joked, “Men should take action immediately now, as you can buy a Vietnamese wife with 30 thousand RMB, and a North Korean wife with just a bag of rice. So go to hell the house and car (which are demanded by Chinese women basically)!”
But in fact, different from Vietnamese women, women from North Korea are at risk marrying Chinese men. Because North Korean government forbids its people from going abroad, and considers the expats traitors. They will face the sentence too, if they are sent back to the country. Besides, the children born to these immigrant women and their Chinese husbands (mostly the villagers near the Chinese border) are unable to register households too.
