""Moreover... why is it called democracy if the people can't choose their government themselves?"" ...

Interesting looking at the USA election demographics. I often wonder why people in China pay so much attention to this place in the world. ? I live in Canada. Everyday I hear about the US dream life. I have seen the way the USA works how it has changed over the 63 years I have lived in Canada.
They sure do like to sick there noses in every other countries business. We in Canada are over run with America business . Things like free trade go back to a time of Ronald Reagan and the Premier of Canada at the time Brian Muroney signed this free trade pack. Over the years America business and has come to Canada in force. This is the Amercia way of business, not only in Canada , but all those other countries where they stuck there noses. The current Canadian government is pro America. This gover was elected with a 29% vote of the 60 % of Canadians that voted at the last election. This political party is the Richest Party in Canada, and is becoming even richer. Because of one thing. It seems they have some very big to Sell like OIL ,from Alberta. Alberta OIL SANDS project is the biggest OIL project in the world . China also wants some of this OIL. Just a short note on America's closes and must trusted neighbor.

On a personal note I do not trust the America political and the America business man I trust less. I get tired of hear the America Rhetoric, that comes from the America media and the CBC Canadian media, these are all government controlled.  Thank you for enlighten me on Einstein.     YG my pen name

If that's the case Robert, I truly fear for the future of the great nation of the united States of America. So much potential shot down by greed and selfishness.

If you ask me, I think all the deregulation that started in the 80s with Reagan was the beginning of all this mess.
Since 1980 the real income and worth of the middle class hardly budged an inch.
During this same time the richest 1% have seen their real income and worth ramp up considerably.
The 1% more than doubled their income while the upper 20% barely moved up.
The other 80% actually dropped in real income (adjusted for inflation).
The only way to deal with greed is through regulation. Fat cats aren't going to regulate themselves and
anyone who thinks they will is nuts! We need a redistribution of wealth in the USA and if the critics want
to call it socialism that's fine with me. I don't care if you call it communism as long as it's equitable to
the people who have to work for a living.

If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

This would be fine as long as equal work is done for equality in income. However, the US distaste for anything labelled "communist" would probably not allow this. I agree though, something must be done, not only in the US, but the world over as this isn't simply a US problem.
