Holy crap LC!

I didn't read the story on Megaupload until now.

Actually it's kind of fishy too.

The Rights holder are already holding the Service Provider liable for Violations by Customers in this case too.
While Megaupload had not shown any unwillingness to react to take down Notices under the DCMA.
Not that I begrudged Kim Schmitz personally for getting arrested.
But if that is already possible in enforcing copyrightunder the pretty fair and reasonable DCMA (passed under Bush), then why should there be any Change to it?

The Digital Millenium Act seems pretty good to me.
In Fact, a Modell that we should follow in Europe as well.

Why?  Google has also stood against more censorship of the web.

These bills are designed to help big business.  

But what is going to happen is it's going to hurt a lot of the small businesses and the internet entrepreneurs.

It will kill social media as well.

Very bad for business and bad for my business.

How is it generally increasing profits for them?
It terminates the hitherto protected "Fair Use".
It is similar to the prior google news topic,
where some Newsmedia wanted to see ridiculous payments from Google
for any of their stuff appearing in news indexing.
Then also sued against google when they reacted by taking them out of the index.

It's pretty much a similar story.

Remember Justin Bieber?
He became famous by singing songs of others on Youtube.
Now he supports SOPA under which he had to go to Jail for that.
He should lead by Example and donate all his wealth and rights, and go to Jail.

It is just unreasonable Demands, as in that News Case.
It is helpless and unreasonable Actionism.

Also I was talking about the Congressmen and Senators sponsoring and co-sponsoring the SOPA and PIPA Bills in the respective Chambers, as to directly expose and target them.
Do you have a Constitutional Resistance Right in the US against efforts against Constitutional Rights that legitimates Action against them?
They should be targeted to pull them in public and held accountable.

Both conflicting Interest Groups have large financial Ressources.
Both have extensive big communication ressources.
But to me it seems, the Opposing Interest groups has a larger Potential in winning and mobilising People for it's Course, as they are fighting for far more than just personal Business interests.
Even Tea Party Representants have already changed sides to fighting the Bill.
Quite interesting to watch.

By retaining exclusive rights to copy rights to material, you have to go through them to view the content.

Its the only way they, the corporations that hold the rights, can monetize it on the web.

Its not the artists that are behind all this in the case of music videos as much as the companies they have signed with.  Same movie clips and other things.

You can't make money off your product if others are allowed to give it away for free.

Money is at the core of this.

Hollywood has outspent silicon valley in lobbying for this bill.

Luckily there has been an effective counter campaign online.

I still amazed that ove 4 million signed the petition from Google's link.
