Although the central government has initiated school bus safety regulations and launched a campaign to crack down on illgeal school buses across the nation, the accidents continue with dozens of children's lives lost.

Dec 12: At least 15 students were killed and eight others injured after a primary school bus overturned and fell into a ditch Monday afternoon in east China's Jiangsu Province, according to Xinhua report.

Dec 13: Two students were killed, and more than 20 others were injured, including seven seriously, on Tuesday morning in a bus-truck collision in Zhumadian city of central China's Henan Province, local government authorities said.

A bus rented by Gucheng Middle School collided with a truck at around 8:50 a.m. Tuesday. More than 50 students and teachers were on their way to a training campus when the bus they were on rammed into the truck, officials said.


Will the list be continued? I hope not.

It is a great tragedy that not only affects children. Everyday in China, an estimated 300 people get killed in road accidents. For everyone to imagine the magnitude of this, it's like if everyday a whole Boeing 747 jumbo jet crashed and everyone died.
China needs to enforce road safety rules and crack down on those who do not follow the traffic rules. This is a very serious problem that is costing zillions of RMB to the nation

Frankly, I don't know what the government has really done since the first major tragedy of this kind (Gansu school bus accident).

Mark my word: it only gets worse, unless something substantial is done!

Dec 21: At least two rural primary school students died and another 20 were injured after a horse-drawn wagon they were aboard collided with a truck in southwest China's Yunnan province, local authorities said.

The wagon was carrying 24 students from a primary school in a local village when the accident took place at about 12:45 p.m. on a highway in Qiubei county, the county government announced in a statement.
