Kisses in lipstick left by admirers - especially women - for years have been defacing and even eroding the memorial to Irish dramatist Oscar Wilde in Paris's Père Lachaise cemetery.

The public will no longer be able to get so close as a glass barrier has now been constructed, the Observer reported Sunday.

It will re-open on Wednesday on the anniversary of Wilde's death.
