Now that he's officially dead, he won't be able to explain how he magically demolished WTC 7, evaded NORAD and manufactured an indestructible passport.

The whole thing also seems a little weird for me...
Just to get it right:
First they reported ground troops caught him. Then they reported he was killed by a helicopter. Then it was said he was shot in the head.
So I guess it was like this: Osama was sourrounded by ground troops, then a sniper shot him out of a flying helicopter in the head because he attacked another helicopter that crashed

What I find even weirder is that he was thrown into the sea a short while after being killed - so no one can ever verify whether it really was Osama or just some doppelganger.

But anyway, now this awful war is finally over and the US can get their troops out of Afghanistan. That means, billions can be saved and our global economy can get back to grwoth quickly.

Osama bin Laden died of 'natural causes in 2001'

Tue May 3, 2011 6:4PM

A Chicago-based writer and radio host says there are reports that al-Qaeda's spiritual leader, Osama bin Laden died of "natural causes in December 2001" and not in a recent American raid on his hideout in Pakistan.

Stephen Lendman told Press TV's U.S. Desk on Tuesday that the American media reported "fiction not fact" on how bin Laden was killed.

White House 'confused' on bin Laden death account

Tue May 3, 2011 5:27PM

The White House backed away Monday evening from key details in its narrative about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, including claims by senior U.S. officials that the al-Qaeda leader had a weapon and may have fired it during a gun battle with U.S. forces.

Officials also retreated from claims that one of bin Laden's wives was killed in the raid and that bin Laden was using her as a human shield before she was shot by U.S. forces. Politico

HIGHLIGHTS

U.S. officials now say Osama bin Laden was not killed in a firefight, and was not armed when he died. UPI

In the original account of the firefight, John Brennan, a U.S. counter-terrorism official briefing the media, said, "There was family at that compound, and there was a female who was, in fact, in the line of fire that reportedly was used as a shield to shield Osama from the incoming fire". Telegraph

However, during a background, off-camera briefing for television reporters later Monday, a senior White House official said bin Laden was not armed when he was killed, apparently by the U.S. raid team. Politico

Another White House official familiar with the TV briefing confirmed the change to Politico, adding, "I'm not aware of him having a weapon." Politico

"The bottom line is the team that entered that room was met with resistance and took appropriate action," said a third American official. Politico

The discrepancy between earlier accounts and the new version of events was put down to "confusion" by the White House, who said that the "fact pattern" on the assault was only now becoming clear as more of the participants were interviewed. Telegraph

The contradictions came despite the fact that other reports suggesting that President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, the secretary of state and other senior officials had watched the assault on a live feed provided by a camera mounted on the commando's helmets. Telegraph

American officials said last night they were '99.9 per cent confident' that DNA evidence proved Osama bin Laden is dead. Daily Mail

Scientists compared forensic samples from the body in the Pakistan hideout with those taken from the brain of the terror mastermind's late sister. Daily Mail

As more details of the death of 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden surfaced Monday, some individuals suggested that the killing of the al-Qaeda leader by U.S. special forces may have violated international law. Politico

'Osama kill makes Obama look like a man?'

Tue May 3, 2011 6:19PM

There have been contradictory reports about al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's death and some analysts have begun to cast doubt on the White House's original account.

"I would just say that this assassination of somebody, we have no idea who was assassinated and probably never will have an idea but it's provocative and will only result in reprisals against Americans who have no business being where they are, in the Middle East," J. Bruce Campbell, Veterans Today Contributor, told Press TV's U.S. Desk on Tuesday.

The assassination of bin Laden, however, "will justify their defense spending and make Obama look like a man," he said.

Make believe killing (Bin Laden) to cover up murder?

02.05.2011

The NATO statement mourning the death of the younger son and three grandchildren of Muammar Gaddafi is a cynicism seldom seen. It is not credible that Gadhafi left his son and grandchildren in a military installation, even after a month of heavy bombing in the capital, Tripoli. Rather it was an attack on a house in a residential neighborhood, with the deliberate aim of taking out the Libyan leader.

Like it or not this is not the UN mandate in Libya. Rather, the authorization of military force is to protect civilians, not to assassinate Gaddafi, much less his children and grandchildren.

More cruel still is that the attack occurred just hours after Ghaddafi publicly announced on television that he was prepared to negotiate with NATO in exchange for a ceasefire.

It is clear that military action is not intended to create relief for the humanitarian crisis in that country. It is intended rather to depose the regime and to annihilate the people who lead it, by means of murder - because you cannot consider that killing with bombs is a murder less than murder by the bullet, of a defenceless individual.

Moreover, it is worse, because to try to hit the TV station where Gaddafi was supposed to be, the Libyan Society of Down syndrome was also bombed in NATO airstrikes in the early hours of yesterday.

The UN is not for this purpose. The BRICS - Brazil among them - should use the power they have acquired in the international community to demand an immediate ceasefire and the deployment of international observers to ensure compliance. The community of nations cannot, even indirectly, sponsor attacks from the "execution staff." These, of deliberate homicide and directed action, are intolerable.

Bin Laden’s secrets die with him - how convenient

Osama Bin Laden
Now we may never learn the truth about his role in 9/11 and his relations with Pakistan
By Matthew Carr
LAST UPDATED 12:50 PM, MAY 3, 2011

So Osama Bin Laden has exited the world in which he wrought so much mayhem. Initial versions suggested that Bin Laden was killed 'resisting' a Special Forces team, but Reuters has since claimed that the operation was intended to be a 'kill operation'. The Stars and Stripes are waving outside the White House, the markets are roaring and the dollar is experiencing a patriotic surge.

Bin Laden's death is unlikely to have any significant impact on the 'war on terror', though it may well generate a new cycle of revenge attacks. For the last decade the Saudi billionaire-turned-jihadist has been no more than a symbol of al-Qaeda's global jihad, whose role has been largely limited to his periodic pop-up video appearances.

Al-Qaeda itself has long since morphed into a franchise rather than the centrallised terrorist version of Spectre depicted by media glove puppets, self-interested politicians and 'terrorism experts' intent on magnifying its scope and capabilities, and its future is unlikely to be affected one way or another by Bin Laden's presence or his absence.

Barack Obama has described Bin Laden's death as a form of justice for the 9/11 victims. This is pernicious bull----. The New York Post was more accurate and certainly more honest than Obama in its triumphant headline 'Vengeance at Last'.

Justice does not spring from a bullet in the head administered by some counter-terrorist version of Magnum Force, even when the victim happens to be the terrorist Public Enemy number 1.

Justice depends on those quaint and old-fashioned concepts and procedures such as courts, juries, evidence, public examination and cross-examination in order to produce as wide and as truthful an account as possible of a particular crime and the motives, intentions and methods of its perpetrators.

This principle applies to 'political' crimes and crimes of state as well as 'ordinary' criminality. This is why, for example, the Nuremberg prosecutors put Nazi war criminals on trial when they could just as easily have hanged them without one.

Through these procedures, the Nuremberg courts were able to establish a new concept of criminality which went beyond simply punishing the men who actually carried out some of the worst crimes in human history, but also the bureaucrats and officials who gave them the orders to do so.

With Bin Laden's death - and with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed due to be tried by a military tribunal - there is now virtually no possibility of a similar outcome in the atrocious crime that took place on September 11.

To this day no one knows exactly what Bin Laden's role was in the 9/11 attacks - though he clearly had one. Bin Laden has often been described as the 'mastermind' of the 9/11 attacks, but it was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who first came up with the idea of flying planes into buildings and suggested this scheme to Bin Laden.

Bin Laden appears to have had little if any hands-on involvement in the attacks. It is not known with certainty what his motives and intentions were, beyond the propaganda messages contained in his fatwas and videos, or what he hoped to achieve. Crucially, the nature of his relationships with the state intelligence agencies involved with the Afghan anti-Soviet jihad will also die with him.

So far the media has touched rather gingerly on the astounding revelation that the world's most wanted terrorist had been living in a 'luxury compound' less than a mile from the 'Pakistani Sandhurst'.

Some commentators have suggested that elements within the Pakistani secret service, the ISI, were protecting Bin Laden and giving him sanctuary - something that has been rumoured for many years. But this collusion also raises wider questions. If the ISI helped Bin Laden escape from Tora Bora and protected him in Pakistan, why was it doing it? How was it able to get away with it for so long?

If the ISI were willing to protect Bin Laden after the 9/11 attacks then it must have had some kind of relationship with him beforehand. What was the nature of this relationship? To what extent were his protectors aware of the planned attacks? Why did the US take so long to discover this? Why was the US fighting a war in Afghanistan, supposedly to prevent al-Qaeda from slipping back into the country and establishing new 'command and control' centres there, when the organisation's leader was in Pakistan - a supposed US ally in the 'war on terror'?

The implications of these questions are not limited to Pakistan. In September 2004, 25 FBI and counter-terrorist officials wrote an open letter to Congress which accused the Bush-sponsored '9/11 Commission' of having deliberately ignored "officials and civil servants who were, and still are, clearly negligent and/or derelict in their duties to the nation."

The authors also referred to "intentional actions or inaction by individuals responsible for our national security... dictated by motives other than the security of the United States".

These accusations have never been addressed, like so many of the 'unanswered questions' surrounding 9/11. Had he been arrested, Bin Laden might have shed some light on them - before the death penalty that he would almost certainly have received.

But a trial might also subjected powerful institutions and individuals to unwelcome scrutiny - not to mention the alliances, premises and strategic calculations underlying US foreign policy and the 'war on terror'.

It is difficult to avoid the conclusion that there were too many people who did not want to risk that possibility, and saw an early bullet in the head as the most cost-effective way to shut him down and shut him up. But whatever the reasons for this decision, justice has nothing to do with it.
