The $2M is a red herring!

Yanks have no objection Chinese seIling them low price and low value, monkeys can make stuffs, such as light bulbs and water tap handles.

Now the Chinese are upping the stake.
They want to trade into the higher end value modcons in Yankeeland.

The 3leaf subsidary was a keyhole Huawei could have used unlock the door to the US telecommunication market.
Naturally, cheating US politicians were quick to slam shut the doors on the excuse of National Security.

This National Security issue is always used by the cheating Yanks in their trade protectionist ploys..

The cheating Yanks?

The telecoms industry in China is protected under law. Foreign companies (of any nation) cannot operate in the most sectors of the telecoms industry unless they from a joint venture i.e. provide their technology to a Chinese partner in exchange for market access with, of course, the Chinese company holding 51% or more controlling interest.

The Chinese government claims this is also to protect national security interests.

Yet when the shoe is on the other foot ... you cry foul. And call them cheats, call it trade protectionism, and call it a ploy. Odd you've never said that about the Chinese government before? ;o

Given the above, I think the earlier quote: 'The ministry of commerce said "the US side has used all kinds of excuses, including national security, to engage in obstruction and interference in the trade and investment activities of Chinese businesses in the US"' rings rather hollow.

And just when China was insisting that the EU remove its objection to China receiving full market economy status by the WTO (and thus gaininag advantage under WTO rules) it calls US actions 'obstructions, interference' and excuses for doing what China does industry-wide in China!

Sounds as though Beijing is just unhappy because it isn't being allowed to do whatever it wants to do!
