China now worlds second largest economy.

Conservative estimates by analysts has China overtaking USA in next decade.

But the fact is the rise in China economy is not linear and the exponential factor would indicate the USA becoming no.2 well before 10 years pass.

World's 10 biggest economies
US
China
Japan
Germany
France
UK
Italy
Brazil
Canada
Russia

Held back by the USA for so long - China has shown the true courage and resilience of the Chinese people - the world will be a much better place without the hegemons at the top of the ladder - a peacefull and harmonious world superpower is what has been needed for a long time and China is about to fill the position.

"Held back by the USA for so long"

Funny how it was heavy American investing in China that lead to China's growth in the first place...

well "westerner" it is doubtfull that any investment from amerika brought about the growth of the Chinese economy - and I say this because I saw many other countries investing in China long before the gutless amerikan pigs under the leadership of the even more gutless pig Bush scrambled to drop the sanctions they had in place and stop blocking Chinas entry into the WTO.

Foreigners from many countries had established factories and manufacturing joint ventures in China in spite of the amerika sanctions and threats against them if they did openly trade with China.

If anything amerikan investment was nothing more than pathetic "catch up" politics - when they realised China was the go ahead nation and amerika was falling off the wayside - it was an embarassing shame the way the amerikans crawled in on hands and knees.

The amerikans were a decade behind the Europeans - so don't try to blow smoke up peoples arses here ok.

China is now world's second largest economy, but it is not worthy of celebration.

"We will find neither national purpose nor personal satisfaction in a mere continuation of economic progress, in an endless amassing of worldly goods. We cannot measure national spirit by the Dow Jones Average, nor national achievement by the Gross National Product. For the Gross National Product includes air pollution, and ambulances to clear our highways from carnage. It counts special locks for our doors and jails for the people who break them. The Gross National Product includes the destruction of the redwoods and the death of Lake Superior. It grows with the production of napalm and missles and nuclear warheads.... It includes... the broadcasting of television programs which glorify violence to  goods to our children. "And if the Gross National Product includes all this, there is much that it does not comprehend. It does not allow for the health of our families, the quality of their education, or the joy of their play. It is indifferent to the decency of our factories and the safety of our streets alike. It does not include the beauty of our poetry, or the strength of our marriages, the intelligence of our public debate or the integrity of our public officials... the Gross National Product measures neither our wit nor our courage, neither our wisdom nor our learning, neither our compassion nor our devotion to our country. It measures everything, in short, except that which makes life worthwhile, and it can tell us everything about America -- except whether we are proud to be Americans."

It is good news, despite not a novelty.

The core issue to the Chinese society and especially the government, it's not to be dazzled to the point of thinking that's all right and diminish the efforts to achieve the main goal of China: improving the quality of life, especially of the less fortunate, since promoting a more balanced share of the income so reducing the gap between them and the richer.

If China succeeds bringing this people who are in the social pyramid's base to the top, China will enjoy the full potential of its people and truly become a superpower feared by the rest of the planet, coming true that famous Napoleon's prediction about China.
