I truly enjoyed the expo, except for the fact that we were constantly besieged by people who wanted to take our pictures.  This did not just happen in our group.  On the Great Wall, there was actually a stoppage in crowd flow for a pretty European girl with braces surrounded by what I have to call Chinese Paparazzi. I think after the Olympics and the Expo, Chinese people have seen enough Europeans to realize that our looks are not so exotic as to be the subject of such curiosity.  Especially teenagers and children can take offense at being treated as visitors from a strange planet.  We all know this is in no way malicious, but imagine a Chinese student walking around in Denmark and getting the same treatment.

This is a very typical Chinese way of boundage. The Westerners may complain but their culture ignores such stupid details.

If Chinese are curious, they need to figure it out. The more the better.

Drop it.

Western girls are photographed all over China not because they look cute, sexy and charming but because many Chiense misidentify them as lovely pets.

I'd love a pet like JF. Maybe she can be my playmate too.

Chinese law on taking pictures of others can be quit strong on the side of those being taken picture of.
If you don't like it, politely deny it.
Or try to feel honoured by it.
No need to make a fuzz about it either way.

But they are in an infinitesimal minority..

I would not say the girls asking for a photo with me,
or even guys asking for photos with their girls were a minority.

I am sorry that you are bothered by our picture-taking. But as a Chinese, I have to say that sometimes Chinese people want to take pictures of foreigners not because we think you exotic or strange, but because we want to keep thie memory with a foreigner. Most of the time and for most of us, having a picture with a foreigner can always be a proud thing.
