The Shanghai Municipal Government announced that China's first large-scaled offshore wind power project has started operation and supplies electricity as of tomorrow.

The first-phase project has installed 34 sets of wind power turbines with a total installed capacity of 102 megawatts. The second-phase project will further increase the installed capacity of 100 megawatts, according to a statement posted on the Shanghai government website on Thursday.

The statement also said that Shanghai plans to build another four offshore wind power fields, as to reach a total 1.1 gigawatt installed capacity of offshore wind power.

At present, China's installed capacity of wind power ranks the second in the world, only after that of US. To meet the growing electricity demand of the manufacturing centre in Yangtze River Delta, China also aims to construct offshore wind power fields in the Eastern coastal regions, with a total installed capacity equal to that of the Three Gorges Dam at 10 GW.

3 gorges dam capacity is 25 to 35 giga depending on water volume, and turbine installation!

The Southwest of China would be a big exporter of energy in China when all the projects are fully completed!
Green Technologies, Renewable Energy INVESTMENT BOOM will be likely to start post 2012 to 2018!
It will generate MASSIVE INVESTMENT by global investors as the CONSUMER SOCIETY of China, along with the rising BR(I)M economies + old rich of USA, Europe, Asian Trade Route States, British Club will PUSH PRICE of crude oil prices UP UP UP!

The temporary blip, of American Sovereign Debt crisis in 2012, would only delay "Inflation" with the onset of the GREAT CHINA CONSUMER SOCIETY - onset circa 2010 to 2018!

That's the prediction of a lot of American Economist and machination of THE INFLUENTIAL FELLOW!

After the SOVEREIGN DEBT crisis 2010 to 2013, probably the next BOOM would be RENEWABLE ENERGY, with load of cash dumped into it! Somehow, we will hear a lot about crude oil production capacity post 2012!

Frankly speaking I don't believe in any green energy except for hydro power. I believe that when the oil price raises over 150 to 200 USD over a longer period, most nations will start building nuclear power stations (and maybe even produce oil out of the energy generated there) - this just pays off more. As you can see, American and Chinese government are now building dozens of nuclear power stations and even very green European governments reconsider building some.

It's good that there is research ongoing for alternative energy... but I don't believe wind energy can cover more than maybe 5 to 10 percent of the current electricity consumption in China.

GREEN TECHNOLOGY means drastic "new architecture" and more value added "construction add on's".
Germany, Singapore, now in Central Malaya, Shanghai, New York, Tokyo are adding "INVESTMENTS" into this sector!

It's becoming a "Legal requirement" in some states to "conserve" water, electricity, recycle, improve energy efficiency in buildings! What we get are "EXPRESSIVE NEW STRUCTURES" - beautiful and technological loaded!

RENEWABLE ENERGY - is a bit more tacky, and might come as VITAL in ENERGY STRESSED states such as Germany, Japan, and remote regions of the world. BIG NEW photovoltaic fabs are now all the trend, with German, Japanese, Korean and "American" invest in plants in ENERGY CHEAP, water available countries like China, Malaya!

It might not be 100% valid for China though!

Nuclear Energy is good idea, but the 3 mile accident, Chernobyl accident put a damper on further development of the energy. Moreover, The SAUDI ARABIA of uranium supply is in Australia, South Africa and Canada! Russia and Niger only supplies a small 20% plus of global requirements!

hmmmmm

Don't expect too much from green, our scientific limitations make sure that we won't go complete green
