How would the administrators of the forum determine if  posters are in fact members of Mossad, the CIA
or any of the numerous shadowy NWO organisations whose tentacles are everywhere ?Shouldn't posters
then have to submit their bank statements do determine who their employers are ?

I am against full registration.

The funny thing about this is ...

that it is the Chinese government who wants it - who want to be in control over the content of this forum.

ZhangKuang

I really don't think that is an issue.

Anyone in China can be recognized by the police just using the I.P address and provider.

Anyone outside of China can be banned from the forum or just deleted.

The technology to trace people is not an issue.

And a proxy, well again once detected can be blocked.

I see no issues here for the law in China.

You are very easy to spot.

Anonymity is therefore I feel not a government issue, but rather one where it encourages participation because people can hide.

If someone says something you don't like, then report them to the mods.

If they take no action.

Stay or go.

But if it resorts to physical threats and incitement to disorder, then that is contrary to the law and a main case against registration  .

I accept bets on this one!

Of course I'll take the bet.
It's a sucker's bet and you're the sucker.

Matt's true identity is well known here.
He'll be here if they make this change (As will I)

Glad to hear you won't be.

The Chinese government can have control over any Forum, hosted in the PRC, without registration. It's a matter of moderating. Having said this I believe that English language forums are not on their top priority list.
