But beyond the political trappings - which are nice eye candy to keep monied citizens in place - there is the nagging question of how much is Beijing willing to flip the bill for an entitlement system that was not their's to begin with, and provides a source of "disharmony".

My reply was to your question whether there are political parties in HK. Once again, officially there are none. The concept of harmony is not restricted to the CCP only.

Hmm, maybe I didn't make myself clear enough.   Officially means that political parties are not registered. They see themselves as groups of interests. We've some (maybe) Hongkong residents on this board. Perhaps they're in a better position to explain the political system of this SAR.
