And now hardly more than a squeak from him about our Japanese victim. Clealry 'race' plays a role as to the degree of venom directed against China by him and his racist-ilk.
..

The exact same argument could be said of you.

You did not write any posts castigating this Japanese for his behavior and state that he should rightfully face the death penalty - as you did most vociferously when it was a UK citizen.

Like Expatter, I sense racist undertones in your post (and lack of). Could it be because the offender this time around wasn't a citizen of one of the nations you love to bash so much?

Or was there another reason the two Japanese executed are of no importance.

If there is another reason.

I would like to know it.

Anyone.

I think you will find that Japanese government has a rather different attitude to capital punishment than the UK government.

Could it be there was no outcry given that Japan has also recently executed Chinese nationals (murder, I think)?

I think the underlying principle is quite simple.

Those that cried out against against the death penalty and executions in general. (Pro-life anyone's)

Those that cried innocent 'mule'.

Didn't in this instance.

Why?

You seem very anxious to direct discussion only in this direction.

You left out other options.

Can't you see any differences in the circumstances of these two cases?

Do you think you need to point out the obvious?

Why would you insist I discuss these.

They carry the same penalty.

And anyone can see the cases are different.

Except there is a lack of response by pro-lifers.

And the possible shout of 'mule', to mitigate the offence.

Both these are missing in the latter.

I think it is fairly obvious why no one stated 'innocent mule'. There was no suggestion (note I say suggestion) of mental incapacity. A mule is a mule. They know and full understand the consequences of their actions.

I suspect - and this is only conjecture - that the Japanese accused thought that since he wasn't smuggling into China that if were caught he would be dealt with under Japanese law. Though, i still don't know the punishment in Japan.

Had he been caught smuggling into China you can be damn sure this case would have much more publicized on these shores.
