If I was holding as much U.S. debt as China is currently holding, I'd start selling it. I'd sell it off in big 20% chuncks every time America gives weapons to Taiwan or hosts the Lama King. It would be a fitting kick in the crotch and besides that, investing in gold or the Euro would be safer.

But US GDP is USD 40-50 trillion. It's not a big danger, just a little financial management, US can pay all the debt easily.

It may be impossible for the Americans to pay it back all at once but I'm sure it's possible to pay back over time especially if there is a lot of inflation. It's possible but will it actually happen? That's another issue.
