People who eat either animal, both of which are viewed as promoting bodily warmth, would face fines of up to 5000 yuan ($816) and up to 15 days in jail if the law is passed, the Chongqing Evening News said.

Not fair! I get my bodily warmth from pigs and chickens, so why not protect them too!!!

Uh oh

Honestly,

I found dog to be delicious: texture like beef and similar in flavor, but sweeter!

I have never looked at dogs the same again!

Rats on the other hand, maybe were dressed-up like chicken and could pass, I suppose -- NO! I couldn't digest the rat, even though it was largely indistinguishable from the chicken it was made to mimic. I could only gag!

goodonya...one mans trash is another mans treasure! I don't like gou rou, or any of the heavily spiced and marinated meats here anymore. I prefer to cook the meat I buy, myself.

Dogs /  cats (I would not eat), cow, pig, monkey, bear, horse, snake, insects, etc. are all viable sources of protein for a hungry / not hungry nation.

I see no difference.
