Of course.

So peterb is the peter you were referring to.

Anyway, I think what Bill Clinton did in helping to retrieve those two women journalists from North Korea was a diplomatic coup for the United States.

A diplomatic coup

North Korea appeared unreasonable in sentencing the two women to years of hard labor on trumped-up charges.

Of course the two would admit to anything they were charged with, but who would try to enter North Korea from China to do espionage work?

I mean just a little conversation with the two would reveal they weren't Chinese.

A search of their belongings would reveal that they carried American passports.

So it was a case of two enthusiasts trying to earn credit for their newspaper by going into North Korea when tough UN-imposed sanctions became frontpage news.

The incident gave Kim Jong Il the jumpstart he needed for securing a platform for bilateral talks with the Americans -- the immediate reasons being his bad health and the transfer of power to his youngest son.

But the North Koreans came out looking boorish and unreasonable.

Bill Clinton made it seem like the Americans would go to any length to secure the release of those two ethnically Asian women on humane grounds, when in fact this case was the exception and hardly the rule.

It was a diplomatic coup for the Americans.

For a penny many would have sold their grandmothers and there are many many of this kind around. I am not the least surprised. Pardon me for the crude language used. Education has nothing to do with it. It is what is inside that person. Changing clothes does not change the person inside the clothes. What would you think of a crab walking like a hen? A crab being a crab only walks sideways.
