Blocking it doesn't accomplish what those who decided to do so were attempting though.... it actually works in favor of the other side.

If there is a crowd gathered outside, then whose side do you think they will believe when the lights go out?

One of the main things I DON'T miss about living in China, and one of the main negative factors against living there.  Why should I pay a price which is (especially relative to income) much much more than I pay in the UK, for an internet connection which is already grossly inferior, with pathetic maximum download rates of 100kps, and then to have the added drag factor that about 30% of websites simply don't work at all.

One day China's government will have to realise that if youw ant a modern, sophisticated populace, you can't keep them ignorant.
