Or Chinadaily, Shanghaidaily, Peopledaily and Xinhua all too embrassassed to tell you in English that those civil servants were in fact charged visiting underaged prostitutes?
Many Chinese are angry that those underaged girls were raped again by saying they were prostitutes and the law is raped by the prosecutors.

Indeed, I did not read the media reports.

So, now are you telling us that the prosecutors have sufficient evidence to charge those perpetrators with rape?

The Chinese people are angry because it was a recurring rape of underaged girls by those bastards?

Actually I agree with you, concerning not letting public opinion sway application of law..... but all citizens must be equally treated under the law for the public to respect that position.

The brewing concern that matters is not originating from "gweilos" on this forum though, so your insinuation of outside manipulation holds little water. If you want to address the majority of Chinese citizens, who have voiced concern regarding unequal treatment under the law, then perhaps your comments should be made on Chinese language version of forums.

I am not literate in Mandarin, otherwise I would be happy to join you there and add to the discussion.

I have thought about your post above and now I am ready to give you my thoughts.

I will, for now, also try to ignore all those bloody distractions from kiwi, sinanka and sinking hell (rigger) -- who are only interested in themselves (vain pots!).

[red] What to do?  All have to be treated equally. That's the law!  But my personal thought is that those in influential and official positions should be punished more severely than the common folks when they commit a wrong.  A clean government should be the long term objective, and any official convicted of wrongdoings of whatever kind, should be punished by legal means as well as be stripped off his positon and all the benefits and privileges given to him.  He will go down in disgrace !  But these changes, can be done, takes time and patience.  It also has its risks in the process of changes.  Like I said in my post #37 and subsequent posts, the powerful and government have to shoulder that responsibility of lifting poverty and corruption.

[blue] How on earth did you get that ???  I think you gweilos are damn self-centred.  You write here but CARE all the heck about yourself.  That's why I don't think the Chinese should trust you guys at all.  Just look at Kiwi's posts ... it was all about himself and attacking me.  What was voterigger's contribution to the subject-matter here?  Sinanka's latest was a personal attack and insulting !  Swines, all of you !

Put it this way, I don't need to insinuate.  I will tell you straight in the face what I think about you !  Trust me!  I mean what I say; I don't twist and I don't tango with anyone !

I was TELLING the Chinese as I respond to the allegations about their angry reactions and the charges being changed because of that.  Go read my posts carefully !  Gweilos are NOT important to me.  Got it?

Here again, let me say this, if the Chinese anger can bring about changes and reforms, I am fine.  My other concern is the Chinese's growing distrust and disillusion.  Such feelings are infectious and unhealthy.  You know what, the thread that saddens me most is the one when Suying said she was leaving and everyone said "Go.....".

For me, I feel that China is an opportunity.  I know not all is good and well yet, but it will be worse if the people are always angry and distrustful.  Mr Justwowo asked (#137) "why so many girls were cheated and raped".  That's something to think about.  Straighten your thought.  Think prevention through education and awareness.  People will not be easily fooled and thinking simplistically. (Well?)

As for gweilos' or any outside interference, I think that is NO GOOD either.  You and I have different sets of standards and values.  They may not suit the Chinese.

[maroon]  I don't write on any Chinese forum either but I would love to try if someone can provide me a good link and I have the time to do so.

I used to believe the same, but I found out later that some good people would be diswayed from public service as a result. Even being innocent of an accusation, is no guarantee that you will never face trial for a crime.

It might also be harder to get other members of groups (such as police, military, ect.), to testify against their fellow members if they regularly faced the severest of punishment. It would cause an even tighter bond between them than what already exists, the code of silence would be deafening.
-----------

You claim "we" gweilos have an inflated sense of ourselves in your response to my comments, but then you quote other's posts as justification for your belief. If all gweilos are the same, as you suggest, quote my comments that justify your view.

You also make repeated calls "To the People of China", as if you are addressing the nation....... not exactly a deflated sense of self .

This weekend a Guangzhou weekly Nanfang Renwu Weekly reported that Xishui county in 2008 fiscal income was 0.3 billion yuan but the coal industry was 0.18 billion yuan. This county became one of the richest places in northern Guizhou province. Some coal mine(big or small) bosses find Shubaomei(girls carrying book bags) as prostitues. The bosses like them young, simple, not demanding. The girls are lured by bad boys(some have taking illegal drug habbit). You can see the social problem arised from wealth arising and bad supervision. It's not a simple poverty problem.

No news I hear about this coming up of this Xishui case yet after the procuratorate withdrew the suit a few days ago.
I would be interested to know if the Linhai, Zhejiang case(the girl had told the deputy chief of weather bureau that she's 13 y/o and begged him to release her) will have the chance to change the punishment.
Why Chinadaily, Shanghaidaily, Peopledaily and Xinhua English versions don't report as Chinese media said "charged for visiting underage girls"? Another reason would be:don't let the English readers(especially those only know pedeophile in Anglo's world) get shocked. Chinadaily is very considerate to protect their mental health!

According to the reporter's investigation, prostitution is just a part of the teens drug addiction chain.

Lishui city in Zhejiang province, several 13 to 16 y/o high school girls involved in rape, abortion, std. It's not happened in a poor region.

So, don't think that's only teen whore problem in poor regions.
