What would you do if you witness a blooding traffic accident on the spot?

I saw a common accident, and an uncommon tourist was coordinating the traffic and first-aid.

In Guilin such a tourism city, a foreign tourist stood out from indifferently watching crowd, directing traffic until the police came.

I’m ashamed of the indifference as a Chinese. I know it’s even harder for a stranger who is not familiar with the place and language to give his helpful hand.

I hope the man injured is recovering and well.

The tourist did what he could to help, I'm glad he lent a hand.

the photos shows our Chinese indifference to the injured?

If a Chinese stood on the Occidental street directing traffic, maybe we would say that westerns are so indifferent~~
Heavens bless you & me!

Yes, most people are lookers-on. And the Chinese like to gather when something unusual happens but it is disappointing that few are willing to lend a helping hand. For fear of blackmail or avoid of unnecessary trouble? I haven't any idea about it.

I don't understand what the writer wants.  I wonder why the camera only focused on the gweilo BUT NOT THE 2 CHINESE MEN who squatted next to the injured man with one talking on his mobile, probably calling for the ambulance or the man's family members.  Is that an "indifferent" attitude?

Also, I see the injured man is still conscious and not in a serious condition.  So, what kind of help does the writer want from those ordinary Chinese people?  In a real serious accident, unless you know first-aid, it is better to leave to the experts before you hurt the person further.

As for the gweilo, I "thank" him, of course but he is merely doing what he "thinks" is needed - traffic control.  So, a correction here [Red] the gweilo did not render any first-aid just traffic control as far as I can see.  But I think the CURIOUS CROWD by itself would have warded off any on-coming traffic ..   What do you think?

By the way, "indifference" means "lacking of interest and concern".  It means the people are looking away and ignoring what is happening.  Here, can the "curious" crowd cannot be considered "indifferent"?

Also, what about the camera person?  Is he or she a Chinese?  Then, why is he or she only interested in taking pictures but NOT helping?  In a serious accident, the primary concern of anyone would be to help and not take pictures for fun or to criticise.

Funny writer; strange critic and pretty lacking ... !!!
