Taiwan has alot of IT products.   check out http://www.digitimes.com

WHat does China produce currently?  Only LCD modules for TV and Solar cells. That's it. Not much else.

China's space program is many years ahead of TW

China's space program, e.g. lunar satellite, is technologically intensely advanced.  TW may not ever achieve the same.

TW does not need to compete with China.  TW is a province of China, basically Chinese, and getting lots of economic benefits from Beijing.  TW can complement China's success in many ways.

no way, why taiwan to be part of china when it can makes alot of money on its IT industry?
Dub, your space industry cannot make any money internationally, it's useless.

I could only consider taiwan part of China  when China has has overwhelming edge in every field.

but meanwhile, no way, taiwan has huge lead it lead in IT and   can make more money per capita than china.

Lol, that is good – because IT has been declining steadily in the last 10 years!

A country of 1.3 billion is able to fund a bigger space programme than a country with only 20 million or so.

Quelle Surprise !

T. 41 w4n  is in deep recession. Her industries are too much IT related and in the still worsening depression her main customer, the U.S., doesn’t buy much anymore.

According to February forecasts figures the economy will shrink by 3% in 2009. Already in 2008 GDP rose by a mere 0,1%. The forecast figure for 2009 are also considered much too positive. Some economists predict a contraction of ten to eleven percent in 2009.

So what’s the lead in IT technology for if customers don’t buy anymore?
