Aussies are healthy on the NHI measurements listed above : metabolism , immunities , nervous systems and behavior ". The obesity and overweight problem is a time bomb well and truly lit . The epidemic has started and the explosion is just round the corner .   ...

Ahh what a true delight to read Mengzhi's shameless bullsh!tting again.

So Australia does far better than China on some international survey and this simply masks an underlying problem about to explode in Australia.
However China's position on whatever list is not masking anything, except for China's greatness and destiny to be top of said list.

Mengzhi, your utter hypocrisy, double standards and willingness to lie and mislead, can be entertaining in small doses, but sometimes you're far to generous with those attributes.

With this "health survey", can't you just take the figures as read, acknowledge China's got a little way to go (not too bad a score though) and accept that some other countries may have done better this time.

The results stand for themselves, regardless of your daydreams, after all "the proof is in the pudding" and I am sure China has her fair share of spoiled 'only child' brats getting their second helping of pudding at the dinner table.
Let's just hope those desserts are not made with Chinese dairy products.

No Part of the World Unaffected

The IMF is predicting that China's growth would drop 2% this year, from the beginning forecast of 11%, to a newly adjusted 9%.

Shocking!!!

What did Rudd do this week?  The sensible man picked up the phone and called Prez. Hu, and got an assurance that China would continue to buy Australian resources.

Without China's powerful economic engine, there'd be no more A$100,000 truck driver jobs, mind you, Emu.  You know which side of your bread is buttered, so act accordingly.

The Truth Hurts .

Hello emu , (# 29)

The truth hurts does it not ? For too long the colonialists have had the megaphone to themselves and they BS to their hearts' content : no more . You cannot deny that the obesity related diseases  ( hypertension , diabetes , heart attacks and strokes ) are just building up in Aussie land  ( 60% adults overweight to obese ). The Aborigine neglect and discrimination is an open sore in the land of the plenty ,the legacy of  racism .

China has 65 times the population of Australia and was one of the poorest in the world in 1949 ( Australia was 1st ). It is no great achievement to be at the forefront with 1/65 of the number of mouths to feed and bodies to look after .  Be real mate and stop being so paranoid . It is un-Australian to brag and spin but you do it all the time .

China is performing exceptionally well , thank you .

But Menzies said Australia is obese and over-weight.
Well that is 101% true so I don't know what you're defending about....

Take steps now .

Dear whit3dov3s,

Seneca is not correct in only pointing out anecdotal tales of Chinese illogical behavior . It is the national and cultural trend that is important . Rich and indulgent countries have over fed themselves and under exercised and thus the harvest of this mushrooming problem of obesity , and its ramifications .

The average Chinese still walks , cycles , exercise and eat much less than the westerners . This does not mean that China cannot fall into the same trap if they blindly follow the west , but this is the best time to learn from them and not follow this bad habit .

Well that's the thing, Tongy. Too many Australians don't care who's buttering the bread, they will still speak out when they see fit.

We've done it with our own government, with the Brits, Americans, Indonesians, Israelis, Zimbabweans and so on.
China's not going to avoid criticism of inequality and injustice simply because of its appetite for coal and iron ore.
