WASHINGTON, DC (AP) -- In what appears to be a lapse in security procedures, highly classified documents detailing plans to secretly station nuclear weapons in TWN's central mountains  were released Friday. The documents were included among other papers released as part of an unrelated request under the Freedom of Information Act.

The three page memo, signed by Defense Secretary Robert Gates and destined for the Department of Energy, called for stationing up to six nuclear weapons and the missiles to deliver them on the island. According to the memo, these missiles would be placed under the command of TWN's military to serve as a hair-trigger deterrent.

Neither the Department of Defense nor Department of Energy returned requests for comment. The Department of Energy owns the US nuclear stockpile and must authorize the deployment. The island of TWN has been a self-governing enclave since the end of the ChineseCivil War in 1950.

I highly doubt this is true and is another case of "stirring" to bring about more anti-US sentiment.
