Yes...

... plus foreign automakers like Toyoda, Honda, BMW also placed factories in right to work states - places where the UAW have repeatedly failed to unionize.

Trader,

Yes, this is extremely important. The unions carry much of the blame for the lack of success in the US auto industry.

The top 5 China company seems to be SAIC, Brilliance, Chery, Dong Feng and Guangzhou Auto. Seems to be niche car company as well, using the old "Guangdong system" of using common parts, common platform and common components.

8.5 million vehicles sales in 2007 is fantastic!

when people discussing about China market is just for knowledge improvement on the next BIG CONSUMER market in our world.

We shouldn't use words such as "patriotic" in such a discussion!

I love to listen to Englishman, German, Americans, French, Indians talking about their home markets. That way, we improve our "mental ability" and "global situational condition".

Come on, Mr. caringhk, i never knew you were that "narrow minded". How'd you think i get to figure out so many ideas........"shutting up" or "talking about it with friends of all colours"??????

I think that might not be necessary.

What if China try to maintain a 60% domestic oil. 10% biofuel/synthetic fuel, 30% imported crude oil ratio.
and China government improves the RMB value as more and more automobile, auto services, fuel refinery, synthetic fuel plants, chemical industry, water treatment, material recycling, large efficient farm ethanol farms in South West China/IndoChina......etc.....as well as the development of the "FIRST" industry.....(let you guess what  "FIRST" stands for).....all higher per capita GNP work. Or and improvements in farm sizes, productivity to increase rural farmer incomes, you need food security to survive as well.

However we can aim for a 1.5 T fuel consumption per car, ie. 20,000km on average perhaps 1.5 litre cars....
We can also reduce average car milleage, target 15,000 a year. This can be done as in Europe and Japan in increasing rail, rapid transit, fuel prices etc.

cheerios!

ha ha ha
