Agreed. Good work China. Put the brakes on. Stop the thin end of the wedge because sexual permissivness leads to sexual promiscuity.

You only have to switch on the TV in the UK to find trashy shows like Big Brother and a host of shows featuring young Brits exposing themselves on TV for the price of a string of plastic beads or having competitions to see who could get to have sex with the most people before the end of the week's holiday. Then there are the shows where the host relies on sexual inuendo or his homosexual preferences to maintain the viewing levels.

In my book it's prostitution - selling yourself for sex.

It's a trash culture. The UK doesn't need it and nor does China.

Is this a response to the Chinese Government cracking down on the American Idol close on CCTV?  From what I could read - the politburo did not like the idea of the Chinese youth learning to do things like vote via a phone line.  Gave them too many "bad" ideas.

And the haircuts!  Cannot forget to eliminate the bad haircuts.

Advertising and television don't appear to have an impact. In study after study, no correlation has been demonstrated between advertising, entertainment and any behavior other than brand switching. Moreover, it is inaccurate to say that advertising induces behavior in teenagers: marketing firms are constantly polling, talking to, and paying the 12-20 age group to find out what they are doing and what's likely to sell. Advertising to every age group is more a reflection of that cohort than an influence on it, advertisers try to mirror their lifestyle and ideals in the image they show the world in order to attract customers. The advertising says "we share your dream (however base), let us help you build it", not "you want this"; the appearance of "sexually charged" content indicates that China has a lot of interest in it, not that something is being pushed on the public, and thus that the morals have already been "destroyed", you just weren't seeing the rot.

Nothing wrong with what the Chinese Gov't are doing really except for the fact that I think kids'll be kids and do what they want whether, or not, these ads etc are plastered about or not.
My fiancee had to learn from movies before she and I got at it, coz her parents and friends just didn't talk about it.....that's hardly healthy either!

I'm guessing when you went out with your fiancee you felt you were going out with a lady, rather than a member of the local football team or a porn star.

It just captures all the arguments quite nicely.

BTW zglobal, when you are young and live in the west, you don't mind trying out a few "porn stars". But I suppose when you get older you want to marry a "lady" (and a virgin).
