That's a lot of clap trap trader.

When governments tale a stand they have a great deal of influence over society generally.

It's subtle, but it works to a agree.

Values come from society, school, parents and friends.
Government is one of the key factors behind society values.

An American talking about values is like Jack the Ripper talking about how to keep the murder rate low.

<Laughing>  A government is a shadow reflection of a people's collective will.  The harder the government, the weaker the people.

As for me being an American, please do remember your geographic lessons.  Living in Detroit, the city north of Canada - I had the privilege to observe the Canadian way of life, similar to Australia.  For all the nanny state ideas I witnessed, and regulations and taxes that with them - I did not see too much 'Return On Investment'.

You may want to check the archives at the Australian - I had an interesting conversation with one of their writers last year about violent crime issues similarities between Australia and Canada - and the nanny state attempts to 'fix the issue'.

This post is about banning sexually suggestive ads on radio and T.V
You know the kind that little 5 year olds often get to see in the west.
If that's your standards, your welcome to them.
If you don't think they have an effect then I guess all those advertisers just throw their money away.

<laughing>  That answer is the same as it has been since the beginning of Radio and Television - the 'off' switch.

<chuckle>  You know, there was some wisdom to my mother not jumping on the cable television bandwagon in the late 70's, early 80's.  I was not raised on suggestive videos on MTV or late night soft core porn on Cinemax/HBO.  I just had the choice of channels 2,4,7,9,20,50,56,62 & the Quebec Channel 54 (when the Detroit Red Wings played Monteral or Quebec City on Hockey Night in Canada).

You will be surprised what simple choices can do.

zglobal...what sexually suggestive ads on TV?? At what time? You must be talking about wonderbra commercials? Or what...
I saw on a Chinese billboard a pretty model holding a popsicle in a manner that brought to mind a male appendage. Another had yogurt flooding toward her mouth bukkake style...These ads wouldn't have made it past the watchdogs in Canada.

The thing is that this is hardly the reason for societal gender related ills. AND if advertising was the issue then your negative attitude toward western adverts is way off base.
Suggestive adverts are far less irritating than androgenous 'male' models that seem so popular here. I know plenty of manly guys from  the PRC... why must they use the most effeminate as the model standard.
Keep sexy ads. Get rid of gender-blending faggy ads.
