I was looking for a chinese forum (forum with chinese people living in China), but I often found some with chinese people living in US or somewhere else. So I hope that there are more people over here who live in China, because those one could maybe answer to my question.
I've been in China for little bit more than 2 weeks now and...every time in the subway, touristic site, etc. people try to take some pics of me. Most of the time it's fun, but sometime it's very boring (fortunately I am calm, because this can be very unpleasant). Especially when I leave the job office, when I am tired, so I feel like an animal in a zoo.
So my question is : why ????
Beijing is not a village, it's a big city...so there are a lot of foreigners (Ok I didn't say yet that that i'm a black guy).

Hmm, yeah as a black you're a bit like an attraction. You're a bit like, you know, compare it to someone who's incredibly tall. People will take pictures of people who stand out from the masses. I'd say, you could do three things:

1. ignore them
2. pose for them (I mean, they're taking pictures then it had better be a sexy picture, right. :) )
3. ask if they want to stop taking pictures.

Well, I guess you don't want to tell people to stop taking pictures all the time, because that would be very tiring. Depending on your mood I'd stick with option 1 and 2. Or you could give them the 'Joey look'. It's like a semi-annoyed, semi-arrogant look.

Anyway, take care man. (Maybe you could imagine you're a movie star or something. They have to deal with lots of cameras as well... ) And maybe just hold on, because I think that slowly but surely more Western (black and white) people will move to China. So, you'll be less of an attraction by then.

P.s. Maybe you could take a camera with you and take pictures of all the people who try to take pictures of you. That would be really funny.

Depends on:

Height
Skin color

If you're 1.95 and black...you're pretty much screwed.

I guess I'm gonna be okay in the big cities. I'm 1.88 and white.

It's true that I collected a lot of cliché : tall (not so much actually, just 1.81), black, with an afro.
i never think about take pictures of people who try to take one of me...could be funny :)

Yeah, most of the time I just ignore or pose for them for fun. But it's much more better when they come and talk, like two girls did a couple days ago and we spent a great moment after that !
