I'm writing to tell you the sad news:my dearest husband and brother Mausolus has died.I don't need to explain to you,my friend, how much i miss seeing him everyday and hearding his sweet voice.

为什么这两个名要加ing??

I don't need to explain to you……
这句翻译为我不需要向你解释……  ??
不是用
I can't explain to you……
更好么?

"my dearest husband and brother" is one person?

我不必向你解释(你也知道)

how much I miss seeing him every day and hear[d]ing his sweet voice.

seeing him every day
hearing his sweet voice
是平行对等的两个短语,都是她 miss 的事情。

Refer to the same person!

Come, come, JL, you surely know Mausolus. (Not personally ofcourse, but know of him!) The word Mausoleum (for a grand tomb) came from his name and from the grand mausoleum that was built for him after his death.

Let me see if I can find a reference on the web.....
Heres something from http://www.ancientlibrary.com/wcd/Mausolus

"Mausolus died in 353. He was succeeded by his sister (and wife) Artemisia, who invited the greatest Greek artists of the mid-fourth-century to the Carian capital to decorate the Mausoleum"

I thought my question was quite clear:
How could a husband and a brother be the same person?

Well, you know how it was in ancient Greece, they had different notions of morality. I remember an Agatha Christie "The labours of Hercules" where the detective Hercule Poirot describes the Greek Hero Hercules as little more than a mass murderer by todays standards!!
It so happened that Artemisia was Mausolus's wife and his sister.

So this is a modern rewrite/adaptation of the Greek tragedy/comedy?
