China's central government will invest 100 billion yuan ($12.9 billion) in projects in Tibet, including an extension of its first railway, the regional government announced on Monday.

The money will be spent on 180 projects in the years up to 2010, including upgrading an airport; extending availability of drinking water, electricity and telephone lines to herding communities; and building a railway from regional capital Lhasa to Xigaze, the region's second-largest city, the Xinhua news agency reported on Monday.

ec, irishinuk and seneca and others are again deafening in their silence.

Post something bad about Tibet and they will surely reply.

Sorry, I will cancel my Tuesday's paid work so that I can monitor this forum for postings of such a nature.

I will need to read more about it before commenting.

===>  You post is the perfect analogy of many forumites only focusing on the violence in post-war Iraq, and ignoring the money and effort spent by the Western coalition forces to rebuild Iraq.

Back to the point, do you require acknowledgement or another 'slap on the back' for posts that discusses an beneficial act/event?  Or are you expecting some to oppose China's desire to make improvements to the Tibetan region?

I did not see any questions in this post that would necessarily lead to a discussion.

Nosferatu's right. A newsdump does not in itself lend itself to discussion.
