we can't predict the result which we eagerly want to know,in that case, buddha gives us a way ,i don't think there is any difference between praying before buhhda statues with making a best wish.
they are just same,nothing more

Pray for good luck is fine, you wouldn't want to be run over by a bus on the day of the exam do you (just picture the daily traffic conditions in China! ) and that Buddha can help you with. On the other hand, Buddha did not study what you studied. You really think Buddha knows advanced trignometry or how to write the codes in a computer program? Even if Buddha does know I don't think he will help you explicitly as it is against his teachings to help you to cheat and lie.

One should distinguish between praying to the memory of a deity, praying to the spirit of the deity, and praying to a man-made creation of the deity.

If for instance we pray to the Buddha, are w ...

FRom the Prajna Parimita i read recently, the phrase think of

NO Self, no others, no living beings, no life was repeated a number of times.
After thinking thru above words, i get the correct meanings. It further adds if there are no others, what is there to be angry about. i could say that once a chinese tickled me u being a buddhists but behave angrily, i smiled that night with a host od Buddhas smiling with me!!!!

One must carry the dharma with one's own dharma body!!!
No one can carry for them. So if one prays, bow, one purifies one own body.
This is what it means the act of praying.
& yr san-kern will grow longer.
(if people don't hv san-kern, that's why the remains atheists,etc.....)

The statues of Buddhas??
Those statues i read is for concentration of mind.
If one looks at them gently, one will find one mind will focus properly.
It is also stated repeated in meditations note concentrations....

if u hv written in mandarin, ia am lost how to reply to you!!!

again back to the beginning, if one can grasp the mountains in taiyuan or elsewhere into one minds, one can be a Buddha. Of course we know the mountian cannot fit in physically into our small body. That is why the dharma body is known as big body!!!!
