Why do you Chinese people want to learn English?

Also, what kind of English is most popular in China?  (American, Australian or British)

Thanks :)

Is that the general consensus in China, that English is the universal language?

How do you know those Koreans, who are learning Chinese, do not learn English?

I learn Kiswahili because I have to survive in those countries, which doesn't mean I reject English, otherwise how can I talk with you here?
